Program of the 22nd Edition of the Classical Music Series “CAPRICHOS MUSICALES DE COMILLAS 2025”

Every summer, the town of Comillas becomes the setting for one of Cantabria’s most prominent cultural events: Caprichos Musicales. With over twenty successful editions, this festival offers a carefully curated program of classical music concerts in some of the town’s most iconic venues, such as the Church of the former Major Seminary and the El Espolón Cultural Center.

Renowned for its artistic excellence and intimate atmosphere, the festival brings together prestigious national and international performers, offering audiences the chance to enjoy great musical works in a historic and charming setting. It’s a unique cultural experience, perfect for music lovers visiting the town during the summer months.

The 2025 edition of Caprichos Musicales de Comillas will begin on Saturday, August 2, in the Church of the former Major Seminary of the Pontifical University. At 9:00 PM, the opening gala will feature the Nazarenko School & Ensemble Solistas, presenting a live dance and music performance in celebration of Johann Strauss’s 200th anniversary.

On Sunday, August 3, the festival moves to the El Espolón Cultural Center, where at the same time, the Ensemble Solistas de los Caprichos will perform a diverse selection of works by composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Marcello, Mozart, Paganini, Shostakovich, and more. The concert will feature violinist Albert Skuratov, under the artistic direction of Serguei Mesropian.

The program continues on Wednesday, August 6, with a recital by violinist Jaime Naya and pianist Eda Seviniş, performing pieces by Schumann, Paganini, and Sarasate.

On Saturday, August 9, music returns to the Seminary Church with an emotional and genre-blending performance. Argentinian guitarist and composer Fernando Egozcue and French violinist Thomas Potiron will come together for a concert that fuses tango, flamenco, and jazz, accompanied by the expressive dance of Cristina de Vega.

On Monday, August 11, at El Espolón, baritone Pablo Rossi Rodino, pianist Tatiana Studyonova, and guest dancer Pablo Gutiérrez Ríos will present Manuel & Federico: Encuentro en Granada, a musical journey honoring Manuel de Falla and Federico García Lorca through their most iconic songs and compositions.

On Wednesday, August 13, also at El Espolón, cellist Serguei Mesropian and violinist María Mesropian will perform a recital featuring masterpieces from the classical repertoire, with a special tribute to Maurice Ravel on the anniversary of his birth.

Thursday, August 14, will be dedicated to young talents from Cantabria, who will take the stage in an extraordinary concert that showcases their musical skills and passion.

The festival will conclude on Saturday, August 16, with the Madre Tierra duo, featuring Silvina Tabbush (vocals and percussion) and Manuel Lavandera (guitar and musical direction). Their performance, Cantoras Eternas, is a heartfelt tribute to female voices, offering an intimate and poetic musical journey rooted in cultural and emotional traditions.
