Our Patron Saint Festivities in Honor of Santo Cristo del Amparo will take place this year from July 11 to 20, with a program focused on traditions and designed for all audiences.
The Comillas Town Council has unveiled the poster for the festivities. Children’s attractions will be located on the grounds of the Sobrellano Palace, operating daily from 5:00 PM to 2:30 AM, including a quiet hour with no music for people with special needs. On Thursday, July 17, there will also be a Children’s Day, featuring reduced prices.
The festivities will kick off on Friday, July 11 with a concert by Grupo Recuerdos in the Corro de Campíos, followed by the first mobile disco of the week. The program will run for ten days, offering activities for all ages, blending cultural, sports, and festive events throughout different parts of the town.
One of the most anticipated moments will be the opening speech on Sunday, July 13, delivered by actor Antonio Resines, officially marking the start of the celebrations.
Throughout the week, religious events will be at the heart of the program, with special highlights including the candlelight night procession, the maritime procession on July 15, and the solemn mass on the main day, July 16, which will feature the traditional Picayos dance and a performance by the Brumas Norteñas Choir.
Additionally, the program will feature major musical events such as the Kolossal macro disco (July 17) and the Titanium Show (July 18 and 19), along with lively open-air dances featuring top orchestras like La Mundial, Grupo Beatriz, La Huella, and La Resistencia.
