It is a unique cultural experience, ideal for music lovers visiting the town during the summer months.
The new edition of the Caprichos Musicales de Comillas will begin on Saturday, 2 August, in a landmark venue: the Church of the Former Major Seminary of the Pontifical University. At 9:00 pm, the opening gala will take place, featuring the Nazarenko School & Ensemble Solistas, who will present a unique performance that blends dance and live music, in celebration of the bicentenary of composer Johann Strauss.
On Sunday, 3 August, the series moves to the El Espolón Cultural Centre, where at the same time, the Caprichos Ensemble Solistas will offer a varied journey through works by great composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Marcello, Mozart, Paganini, Shostakovich and others. The concert will feature violinist Albert Skuratov as soloist, under the artistic direction of Serguei Mesropian.
The programme continues on Wednesday, 6 August with a recital by violinist Jaime Naya and pianist Eda Seviniş, performing works by Schumann, Paganini and Sarasate.
On Saturday, 9 August, music returns to the Former Major Seminary with a moving performance that blends musical styles. Argentine guitarist and composer Fernando Egozcue and French violinist Thomas Potiron come together to offer a concert where tango, flamenco and jazz meet, accompanied by the expressive dance of Cristina de Vega.
On Monday, 11 August at El Espolón, baritone Pablo Rossi Rodino, together with pianist Tatiana Studyonova and guest dancer Pablo Gutiérrez Ríos, will present Manuel & Federico: Meeting in Granada, a musical journey paying tribute to Manuel de Falla and Federico García Lorca through some of their most iconic songs and compositions.
On Wednesday, 13 August, also at El Espolón, cellist Serguei Mesropian and violinist María Mesropian will perform a recital of classical masterpieces, with a special mention of the anniversary of Maurice Ravel.
Thursday, 14 August will be dedicated to young talents from Cantabria, who will take the spotlight in an extraordinary concert showcasing their artistic potential and passion for music.
The festival will come to a close on Saturday, 16 August with the duo Madre Tierra, made up of Silvina Tabbush (voice and percussion) and Manuel Lavandera (guitar and musical direction). Their performance, Cantoras Eternas, is a tribute to the female voice through an intimate and poetic journey that connects with the cultural and emotional roots of folk music.
